One year of marriage

On 22nd October 2021 marks our one year of marriage (if you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know). Since I was still berpantang so we decided to celebrate it at home. Plus, Iqbal need to be in his school that day sampai petang so it is a big pantang to go out at night kannnnnnn?

Well, the celebration was super simple with balloon, cakes and ROSES! I was waiting for him like forever, pergi mana tak balik balik rupanya he went to florist <3

Yes he surprised me with roses #taksangka

To be honest, I can't believe how much has happened in a year, Iqbal got posted as a teacher, I passed my Master Theses Defense and we had a baby! Every single thing that happened, good or bad, has made me love my husband even more!

This is Irdina with roses, cakes and balloons

Even though our marriage is not perfect but it is the best thing in my life. Ya Allah, I can't imagine what my life was like without my husband in it. We have so many beautiful moments as a family and couple and I really enjoyed this first year. Alhamdulillah.

Since I didn't blog for the past year so there is no post about my wedding tahu tahu dah one year. Hahaha. InshaAllah I will post my wedding re-caps :p

Finding out we were pregnant

Salam.

Still remember me?

It has been 2 years since the last time I blog. Ohhh it has been ages! I know right. And I AM NOW A MOTHER. Can you believe it? How fast time flies.

Well, I haven't shared much about my pregnancy journey but I've been journaling through each trimester to remember all the precious moments. So here is the story of how we found out we were expecting.

15 January 2021 kicked off with two lines on a stick. I just can't believe what I saw. It was slightly faded but still, it showed TWO LINES!

My reaction: I was shaking and excited and confused. To be honest, I wasn’t ready for pregnancy. I always told my husband "I want to be pregnant next year!" LOL! I had no doubt that I always wanted a baby but since I'm still attempting to finish my master's studies so I think it's not the right timing to have one as I don’t know if I would balance it all. Shock but I am super excited and happy! Alhamdulillah rezeki.

The first thing I did was texting my mother, mother in law and my sisters.

Actually, I planned to not telling my husband and wait until my husband's birthday 4 days away which I thought was good timing. But I couldn’t keep this secret. Hahaha. I just want him to know that there is a baby inside me!

So I told him "I am pregnant" and he was laughing. At first, he thought I bergurau because I told him I wanted a baby (well I'm not ready actually but I was just usik my husband) till I show him the pregnancy test! WE ARE REALLY PREGNANT!

I decided to not post about it online because I just feel like I wanted to keep it a secret and I wanted some personal space. I only shared the news with my close friends tho.

So yes the "secret" weeks started with only my husband and family knowing.

It was the first time I do the pregnancy test since we got married (we have been married for 3 months at that point). The thing that made me suspect the pregnancy was the soreness and tenderness of my boobs more than I've ever had, so I had a crazy thought that I might be pregnant so decided to take the test without my husband knowing. Hehe.

We went to the clinic the next morning to confirm the pregnancy, the result was positive but it was too early and the doctor asked me to repeat the test in a fortnight (it felt like an age) and schedule an appointment.  I didn’t have any symptoms except soreness of the breast and sensitive nipples. Btw, I've never had a regular period cycle so I tak pelik if it wasn’t on time.

But I was so confident that I am pregnant tho, haha, so we went to the pharmacy and grabbed a prenatal vitamin. I chose folate from Appeton (tak ingat how much it costs)

Feb 8 was the day I'd been waiting for, the booking appointment!

I had my very first ultrasound and the doctor confirmed I'm around 4 weeks pregnant! Alhamdulillah. All praises are to Allah. It's really such a blessing to be able to experience pregnancy - such a beautiful journey. Subhanallah.

InshaAllah I will share my pregnancy journey soon!

Till then.

I've Got Your Number | Book Review

Hi all.
I hope you are in a good health.
I have been super busy but still want to post a review on this one book I just read it tho. I swear this book is a fun read and super cute!!!

Sophie Kinsella is one of my favourite authors. I like her sense of humours, it had me laughing tho.
The main character is Poppy who has lost her engagement ring. The story gets interesting when Poppy's phone is stolen whilst she is on her hunt for the ring. I couldnt put the book down when Poppy meets Sam, an attractive businessman, they get to know each other and things start happening between them. I really really liked Sam's character. OMGGG! They are so cute together! Yet Poppy is engaged to Magnus.

I loved this book and I really enjoyed it. It would be great if it is a book-to-movie adaptation. Btw, I would give 4.5/5 for this book and I would recommend this book to those who like something hilarious with little light romance.

Till then.

Period Pain | Girls Talk

I dont have period cramps/pain every month but I will have it once in a while - all the uncomfortable pressure and cramps for hours or the whole day.
Btw, I am writing this entry after had the moment of period pain and cramps. So much pain I almost throw up. Alhamdulillah, I feel much better now. Much much better! And I hope this painful part is finally over.

I hope I could help you a little bit going through your period pain so here are some of the things that I do to deal with period pains (not sure if it works on you but it did on me):

1. Massage the lower abdomen and pelvic regions to help release pressure to the pain (or if you are lucky, someone else can do it for you).
P.s. I do this while reading Surah Al-Fatihah

2. Drink warm water. Btw, I heard that girls on period need to stay away from carbonated drinks because it will just worsen the cramps. I am not sure, I need to clarify this with doctor but got no chances yet.

3. Take pain killers (this gonna be my last choice - just when I got that extreme period pain and cant stand it)

If you experience extreme pain and cramps during your period. Please go see a doctor. Do not listen to people who say that it is normal to have that such pain. If you experience severe pain, there might be something wrong. Just go see a doctor.

Btw, if you have other things that help you going through period pains, do tell me in the comment section. It might be useful to me next time.

Take care girls!
Till then.
